Harry sat there patiently, his mind a whirlwind of confusion and disbelief, as Lady Persephone continued her explanation. The room seemed to shrink around him, the once-comforting glow of the golden-yellow walls now a stark contrast to the dark revelations unfolding before him.
“Harry, you and Tom Riddle are connected in ways that you have never fully understood,” Lady Persephone began, her voice gentle yet firm. “Dumbledore feared you from the start. He saw in you a power that could challenge his own carefully maintained authority. To eliminate two threats with one move, he manipulated Tom into believing the prophecy was about him and you. Given his reputation as the defeater of Grindelwald, no one dared to question his interpretation of events—not even you.”
Harry’s heart pounded in his chest as Lady Persephone’s words sank in. “Dumbledore orchestrated the deaths of your parents that night. He attempted to kill you and failed, leaving you with the Dursleys to ensure you grew up weak and easily controllable.”
The betrayal stung deeply. The man he had trusted above all others, the one who had guided him through the darkest times, was now revealed as the architect of his greatest suffering. Harry felt a surge of anger and sorrow, a tumultuous mix of emotions that threatened to overwhelm him.
Lady Persephone continued, her gaze steady and compassionate. “You might be wondering why you carried a fragment of Tom’s soul if he didn’t attempt to kill you directly. The truth is, Tom was there that night, but not with the intent to kill you. He sought to strike a deal with your parents, and he succeeded. However, when Dumbledore intervened, things took a darker turn.”
Harry’s eyes widened, struggling to process this new information. “Dumbledore attacked you that night, and Tom, in a desperate bid to protect you, placed himself between you and Dumbledore’s curse. In doing so, a fragment of his soul attached itself to you. Dumbledore then spun the narrative to suit his needs, creating the divide between good and evil, and positioning himself as the great leader of the light.”
The room seemed to grow colder as Lady Persephone spoke. “Dumbledore was also responsible for the imprisonment of Sirius Black and orchestrated Remus Lupin’s departure from the country. He manipulated events to maintain control and ensure his vision of the future prevailed.”
Harry felt a wave of nausea as the weight of Lady Persephone’s divulgence settled over him. His entire life had been a carefully constructed illusion, a series of manipulations and lies designed to control and shape him. The man he had revered as a mentor and protector was now exposed as the architect of his deepest pain.
Hermione reached out to Harry, her hand trembling slightly as she sought to offer comfort. He grasped her hand, drawing strength from her presence. Despite the chaos swirling in his mind, her touch anchored him, providing a semblance of stability in the storm of his emotions.
The revelation that their lives had been manipulated by a man they had revered left them speechless and deeply shaken. The magnitude of the deception was almost too much to bear. As they struggled to process the information, a burning question lingered in their minds: Why were they being told this now, after everything had happened, when they had no control over the past?
Lady Persephone seemed to sense their unspoken question. “You two are assigned a task,” she explained, her voice carrying a weight of solemnity. “You will travel back in time to correct the timeline and fulfil the true prophecy. There is a reason you have been chosen for this assignment, and that reason will become clear in due course. Don’t worry, you will have help when needed.”
Harry and Hermione exchanged a glance, their shock slowly giving way to a sense of determination. The idea of travelling back in time was daunting, but the opportunity to right the wrongs and uncover the truth was too important to ignore.
Lady Persephone continued, “Now, you must sign this document to ensure you retain your memories when you arrive in the timeline you choose. This is crucial for your success. But remember, the first thing you must do upon your arrival is to visit Gringotts and request an inheritance test. They will provide you with answers to all your questions. And know this: you have an audience with me whenever you call upon me.”
Lady Persephone’s gaze softened, understanding the turmoil in Harry’s heart. “The path ahead is fraught with challenges, but you are not alone. The truth has been revealed, and now you must find the strength to confront it. Together, you and Hermione can navigate this new reality and face the true enemy that lies ahead.”
Harry nodded slowly, his mind still reeling, but determined to uncover the full truth and set things right. The journey would be arduous, but with Hermione by his side, he knew they could face whatever came their way. The time for illusions was over; now was the moment for truth and resolve.
She presented a parchment and a quill, the document glowing faintly with an otherworldly light. Harry and Hermione approached it with a mix of trepidation and resolve. As they signed their names, a sense of finality settled over them, sealing their commitment to the daunting task ahead.
The room seemed to shimmer as the magic of the document took hold, a sense of power and purpose enveloping them. Lady Persephone watched them with a knowing smile, her presence radiating a calm assurance.
“When you arrive in the past,” she said, “you will have the chance to change the course of events, to uncover the truth and set things right. This is your opportunity to break free from the manipulations that have shaped your lives and to forge a new path.”
Harry felt a surge of determination. The weight of the truth was heavy, but the chance to rewrite their destinies gave him a renewed sense of purpose. He looked at Hermione, seeing the same resolve mirrored in her eyes.
“Thank you, Lady Persephone,” Hermione said, her voice steady despite the whirlwind of emotions. “We won’t let you down.”
Lady Persephone nodded. “I have no doubt that you will succeed. Remember, you are not alone. Trust in each other and in the strength you possess. The future is yours to shape.”
With those words, a brilliant light enveloped Harry and Hermione, transporting them to the past. The grandeur of Lady Persephone’s office faded away, replaced by the familiar yet slightly altered surroundings of a time they had once known. The journey ahead was uncertain, but they were ready to face it together, armed with the truth and the determination to change their world for the better.
When Harry and Hermione regained perception, a wave of disorientation washed over them. Slowly, they realized they were standing in Diagon Alley, surrounded by the familiar hustle and bustle of wizards and witches shopping for their second-year school supplies. The bright sunlight, the chatter of the crowd, and the scent of magical ingredients wafting from nearby shops felt both nostalgic and surreal.
Harry quickly took stock of their situation, noting the crowded bookshop where Gilderoy Lockhart was signing autographs. He had no desire to endure that spectacle again. Pulling Hermione aside, he whispered urgently, “Mione, this is the perfect time to visit Gringotts. Everyone else is busy shopping; they won’t notice our absence. Let’s go.”
Hermione nodded silently, her eyes wide with understanding and determination. Together, they slipped through the crowd and made their way to the towering white building of Gringotts Wizarding Bank. The silver inner doors loomed before them, engraved with the same ominous warning Harry remembered from his first visit with Hagrid:
Enter, stranger, but take heed
Of what awaits the sin of greed,
For those who take, but do not earn,
Must pay most dearly in their turn,
So if you seek beneath our floors
A treasure that was never yours,
Thief, you have been warned, beware
Of finding more than treasure there.
They approached the nearest goblin teller, and Harry greeted him with a respectful nod. “Greetings, teller. I am Harry Potter, and I wish to speak to the Potter accounts manager.”
The goblin’s eyes widened slightly at the name, and he quickly disappeared into a back room. After a few moments, he returned and gestured for them to follow. The teller led them through a maze of corridors until they reached a set of large bronze double doors. He knocked thrice, and the doors swung open to reveal an opulent office.
Inside, a regal-looking goblin sat behind an ornate desk. The teller bowed low and announced, “Greetings, King Ragnarok. Heir Potter and Miss Granger, as requested.”
Harry followed suit and bowed his head in respect. “Greetings, King Ragnarok. To what do I owe the pleasure of a personal meeting with you?”
The goblin king’s sharp eyes appraised Harry for a moment before he spoke. “Heir Potter, this meeting has been pending since you turned eleven. You requested a meeting with the Potter accounts manager, but I asked for your presence as there are crucial matters to discuss.”
Ragnarok gestured for them to sit. “Please, have a seat, Heir Potter and Miss Granger. This will take some time. First, we must conduct an inheritance test to confirm your identity, as per general protocol.”
Harry and Hermione exchanged a glance and then nodded in agreement. Ragnarok produced two blank parchments and placed them in front of them, along with two small, ornate knives. “You must prick your finger with the knife and drip seven drops of blood onto the parchment.”
They followed his instructions, and the parchment absorbed the blood, glowing faintly as it did so. “It usually takes five minutes to generate results,” Ragnarok explained. “And don’t worry, they will be accurate, as blood never lies.”
As they waited, As they waited, the air in the room seemed to thrum with anticipation. Harry’s mind raced with questions, but he forced himself to remain calm. Beside him, Hermione’s fingers tapped nervously on the armrest of her chair.
Harry glanced at Hermione, who looked as determined as he felt. The reality of their mission began to settle in. They were not only here to uncover the truth, but to rewrite the very fabric of their past. The minutes ticked by, each second feeling like an eternity. The parchments began to glow, ancient runes appearing and shifting as they revealed the truth of their lineage and identity.
When the glow subsided, Ragnarok carefully examined the results and handed the parchments to Harry and Hermione. They sat in stunned silence as they read their inheritance test results. The weight of the revelations before them was almost too much to bear. Harry's heart pounded as he read through the lengthy and detailed report, his eyes widening with every line.

Harry could read no further than this. He couldn't believe what he was seeing. His eyes darted over the parchment, reading and rereading the words that confirmed so many of his suspicions and revealed even more shocking truths. The parchment in Harry’s hands trembled slightly as he tried to process the information before him. His name was not Harry James Potter, but Hadrian Charlus Potter-Black. The lineage and titles listed were overwhelming, but it was the details of the magical blocks, compulsions, and potions that left him reeling.
He glanced at Hermione, who was equally stunned as she read through her test results. Her face had gone pale, and her eyes were wide with a mix of shock and disbelief. Without a word, she handed her own test result to Harry, her hands shaking slightly. His heart raced as he took her parchment from Hermione and handed his in return.

The sight of Hermione’s test results was staggering. The realisation that they had both been manipulated and controlled on such an extensive scale was crushing. Harry’s heart pounded in his chest, and his mind raced through the implications of what he had just learned. The power, the titles, and the vast wealth were overshadowed by the dark manipulations they had both endured.
Hermione, too, was grappling with the enormity of the revelations. Her usually sharp mind was clouded by the shock of discovering the extent of the interference in her life, her own magical abilities, and the forced betrothal that had been hidden from her. She had discovered her true name was Isabella Victoria Dagworth-Granger, and her lineage was just as illustrious and complicated as Harry’s. The realisation that they had both been manipulated so extensively by Dumbledore and others they trusted was almost too much to bear.
Lady Death’s voice echoed in their minds, reminding them of the task ahead. The truth had to be unveiled, and justice needed to be served. Harry could feel the weight of the many titles and responsibilities now tied to his name, while Hermione grappled with the implications of her own heritage and the extent of the manipulations she had endured.
They exchanged a look of deep understanding and shared resolve. They knew that the path ahead would be fraught with challenges, but they also recognised the strength they had in each other.
As Harry handed Hermione’s parchment back to her, he said quietly, “We need to figure this out. There’s so much at stake, and we have to be careful. But we’ll face it together.”
Hermione nodded, her expression resolute. “Yes, together. We have to correct this—everything that’s been done to us, to everyone. And we will.”
