The remainder of the academic year passed in a blur, each day filled with progress, determination, and the occasional upheaval. Among the more notable events was the much-anticipated removal of Professor Lockhart. After weeks of compiling evidence, the professors had finally had enough of his flamboyant incompetence and exposed his web of lies before the Hogwarts Board. The proof was irrefutable—documents of stolen stories, memory charm misuse, and blatant plagiarism. With that, Gilderoy Lockhart was dismissed with no ceremony, his ego deflating faster than one of the Weasley twins' enchanted balloons.
Due to the abrupt vacancy and lack of time to hire a replacement, the Defence Against the Dark Arts lessons were split between Professors Flitwick and Snape. Professor Flitwick graciously took on the younger years, while the older students, much to their chagrin and intrigue, found themselves under the stern tutelage of Professor Snape.
